Bible Prophecy Symbols Made Easy

Bible prophecy is so amazing, and understanding the symbols is like discovering a hidden treasure! Yes, God has provided a definition scattered throughout His written word, the Bible.

God gave us the Scriptures as a perfect guide to have eternal life. It’s a complete source on how to understand the symbols of Bible prophecies.

Jesus told us to “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” John 5:39.

But while we search and study, we need to follow some rules to make sure we get the correct understanding of His words by “rightly dividing the word of truth.”

  • 2 Timothy 2:15 says, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

So here are four basic rules to follow when you are searching and studying Bible prophecy.

1) Avoid personal interpretation.

  • 2 Peter 1:20 “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.”

2) Step by step and detail by detail.

  • Isaiah 28:13 “But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little”

3) Comparing one scripture to another scripture.

  • 1 Corinthians 2:13 “Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”

4)God promised that if you DO God’s will, you will know or understand the doctrine.

  • John 7:17 “If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.”
And what is God’s will? It is no other than the “law” of God. Please read Psalm 40:8.
